  1. Sweden's Armand Duplantis set a new Men's Pole Vault world record of 6.25m after winning gold at Stade de France in Paris.
    The 24-year-old had secured successive Olympic titles by clearing six metres, set an Olympic record of 6.10m with his next attempt and then improved his world best of 6.24m, set in April, at his third and final attempt. Duplantis has now broken the record on nine occasions.
    Elsewhere on day 10, Great Britain won Gold in the Women's Team Sprint, the first event of the Games at the Velodrome, Germany won the Mixed Team Triathlon Relay in a close three-way finish with silver medallists USA and bronze winners Britain.

  2. American Noah Lyles came from last to first to win the Men's Olympic 100m Final by five-thousandths of a second from Jamaica's Kishane Thompson at Stade de France in a personal best 9.79 seconds.
    Thompson was awarded the same time, but had to settle for silver by the finest of margins. USA's former world champion Fred Kerley took bronze in 9.81 seconds.
    Elsewhere on day nine,
     hosts France broke their record for medals at a single Games with a 44th, a bronze in the Men's foil fencing team finals, and Serbia's Novak Djokovic beat Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz to secure the Men's Singles tennis title at Roland-Garros and complete a career 'Golden Slam', after his record 24 majors.
