JJ Spaun became only the third American to win the European PGA Championship, finishing two shots clear of Spain's Manuel Elvira, Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, Australian Adam Scott and Aaron Rai of England at Wentworth in Virginia Water, England.

Germany's Alexander Zverev beat American Ben Shelton 6-3 7-6 (7-2) 5-7 6-2 in the final to claim the Men's US Open tennis title in New York.
The day before, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan beat two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 6-4 5-7 6-2 in the final to win her first Women's US Open.
