  1. Poland's Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner of Italy were first-time winners of the coveted Wimbledon singles titles in London.
    Swiatek beat fellow debutant finalist American Amanda Anisimova 6-0 6-0, the heaviest women's final defeat at the All England Club since 1911, in just 57 minutes to win a sixth Grand Slam title.
    Men's World number one Sinner defeated Spain's defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz
    4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4 to earn his fourth major title.

    Now, the 23-year-old has responded by taking two-time defending champion Alcaraz's crown on the Centre Court grass, following another gripping contest which again showcased the pair's shot-making, athleticism and star power.

  2. Mexico fought back from conceding an early goal to beat USA 2-1 in the final to successfully defend the men's CONCACAF Gold Cup football title in Houston, Texas.
    Chris Richards scored the opener, Raul Jimenez equalised and Mexico captain Edson Alvarez got the winner in the 77th minute. The Gold Cup featured 16 nations, 15 from North and Central America and guest side Saudi Arabia. All but one of the matches were held in the United States, with the other  staged in Vancouver, Canada.
