  1. Italy's Renato Paratore won the British Masters in Northumberland, England to claim his second European Tour victory. His two-under-par 69 had him on a total of 18-under, three shots clear of Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark (70), with South African Justin Harding third.     It was the first of six European Tour events that will be staged in the UK this summer, with next week's English Open being held in Birmingham.

  2. Enable, ridden by Frankie Dettori, eased to a record-breaking victory in the King George V! and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

    The mare became the first horse to win the great race three times and Dettori equalled Lester Piggott's record with his seventh victory in the event, one of Britain's great flat races.

    For trainer John Gosden it was his fifth victory in the "King George", one adrift of Michael Stoute's mark.
