Aidan O'Brien won The Derby and The Oaks on the same day, and each for the eighth time, as Emmet McNamara won an epic stalls-to-post victory on Serpentine after the Ryan Moore-ridden Love streaked away in emphatic fashion in the Fillies' classic.
McNamara sent the 25/1 shot Serpentine 10 lengths clear and his mount, who only won its first race a week before, stayed on impressively to win by five-and-a-half lengths from Khalifa Sat (50-1) with 66-1 chance, and the winner's stablemate, Amhran Na Bhfiann third.
O'Brien became the most successful trainer in the 240-year history of The Derby, overtaking other legendary handlers Robert Robson, John Porter and Fred Darling, who each won seven blue ribands.
In the Oaks, rank outsiders Passion and Tiempo Vuela set a ferocious pace but Moore and main rival Frankie Dettori on Frankly Darling were content to stay at the back.
Moore made his move as the pacemakers faded and from two furlongs out there was only one winner. Love won by nine lengths and her time of two minutes 34 seconds was a new record for the 241-year-old race
Love will be aimed at the big prizes and many will hope that includes the St Leger, the final leg of the Fillies' Triple Crown
