  1. Judd Trump won his third consecutive snooker ranking title with a 9-3 victory over fellow Englishman Chris Wakelin in the Northern Ireland Open final in Belfast, to lift the Alex Higgins trophy for a record-extending fourth time.
    Trump has now won 20 matches in succession having also claimed the English Open and Wuhan Open titles this month, just the fifth player to land three ranking titles on the trot, after Ray Reardon, Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis and Ding Junhui.

  2. South Africa became the first nation to win the Men's Rugby World Cup four times when they beat New Zealand 12-11 in the final at Stade de France in Paris. The Springboks also retained the trophy, having triumphed in Japan in 2019.
    They relied on four penalties from Handre Pollard, while the All Blacks responded with a Beauden Barrett try and a pair of Richie Mo'unga kicks and had skipper Sam Cane shown the red card in the first half for a gangerous tackle.
