  1. Spain's Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam in tennis after beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5 in the final of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
    Alcaraz has won all the top four major trophies at the age of 22, beating fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal's record by two years, and now has seven major titles.
    Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina won the women's title, defeating Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the final, to clinch her second Grand Slam crown.

  2. World number one Scottie Scheffler won a 20th PGA Tour golf event, landing the Desert Classic title in California, USA by four shots with fellow Americans Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty and Andrew Putnam, plus Australian Jason Day, tied for second.
    Scheffler is the second-fastest player to 20 titles in days taken (1,442), third fastest in events played (151), third youngest (29) to reach the milestone and the third player to win $100m on the PGA Tour.
