  1. Welshman Mark Williams became the oldest snooker ranking event winner for 32 years when he won the inaugural World Snooker Tour (WST) Pro Series in Milton Keynes, England.

    The 46-year-old three-time world champion came top of the final eight-player round-robin group. Ali Carter of England was the runner-up.

  2. The Irish domination of the 2021 Cheltenham Festival continued with Minella Indo winning the Gold Cup Chase for trainer Henry de Bromhead, who added the blue riband to the Champion Hurdle and Champion Chase won earlier in the week. A Plus Tard was second and Al Boum Photo, the winner in the previous two years, third.

    Vanillier won the Spa Novices' Hurdle for trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Mark Walsh and the other Grade 1 of the final day also went to the Emerald Isle, with Rachael Blackmore guiding Quilixios home for de Bromhead.

    Blackmore had six winners across the week, winning the Ruby Walsh Trophy as leading jockey, Willie Mullins won the trainers' prize and Ireland were victorious, emphatically, on the Prestbury Cup with 23 wins to Britain's five over the four days.
