Golf - Texas Open

One of the oldest established tournaments on the PGA Tour, this event has always been held in San Antonio.
From 1922-40 it was staged at the Brackenridge Park course, with the exception of 1927 & 1928 when it was played at Willow Springs and 1933 when the tournament did not occur. Willow Springs also hosted from 1941-49. In 1950 and 1951 it was held at both Brackenridge Park and the Sam Houston course. From 1952-59 it was solely at Brackenridge Park, with the exception of 1956 when Sam Houston was the venue, as it was in 1960. From 1961–66 it was played at Oak Hills, from 1967–1970 Pecan Valley took over (apart from 1968 when the tournament did not take place due to the US PGA Championship being played at the club) and, after a year's lull, Woodlake hosted from 1972–76. Oak Hills staged 17 Texas Opens from 1977–94 (there was no event in 1987) before a move from 1995 to 2009 to La Cantera. In 2010 the tournament took up residence at its current home, the TPC San Antonio, where it is played each April. It as not staged in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
