Football - Oceania Women's Nations Cup
The major political and economic powers - Australia and New Zealand - largely made the Nations Cup their own, faced with limited opposition from the tiny island states of the Pacific. When Australia left the Confederation in the early 21st century, the Kiwis were set to turn this duopoly into a monopoly but have not competed in the women's Oceania Nations Cup since the tournament they won in 2018.
