Golf - Mississippi Championship

This event moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 2014 and is now one of the early events of any new PGA Tour season, which officially begins in the northern hemisphere autumn each year. 
The tournament has been played since 1968, initially as a satellite event with the money counting towards the tour list but the wins counting as unofficial in Hattiesburg in Mississippi as the Magnolia State Classic. It finally became an official part of the PGA Tour when it moved to Madison in Wisconsin in 1994, keeping its "Classic" monicker, until becoming a "Championship" in 2013.
It was shifted to its present home a year later and is now staged away from weeks involving major championships and other more prestigious events, so the quality of its fields has improved over the years.
