Rugby - Dave Gallaher Trophy

First contested in 2000 as a prize for France v New Zealand matches, this cup is a tribute to Dave Gallaher - captain of the 1905/06 New Zealand team - the `Originals`. Gallaher was to be killed 11 years later in Belgium during World War I. In 2009 the trophy was controversially decided on aggregate over a two-match series. Prior to the Gallaher Trophy era, New Zealand had beaten France 25 times and lost nine matches, with no draws since they first met in 1906.
