English-trained filly Kalpana won one of Europe's great horse races, the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Ascot, England in a thrilling finish. 
The Adam Balding-handled winner, piloted by Irish jockey Colin Keane, beat last year's victor, France-based Calandagan, by one-and-a-half lengths with Irish challenger Benvenuto Cellini half-a-length further back in third.
