Serbia's Novak Djokovic won the Australian tennis Open for a ninth time, beating Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-2 6-2 to claim his 18th Grand Slam, leaving him two behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on that list.

Djokovic has never lost a final at Melbourne Park and this was his third triumph there in a row.
