Cricket - Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
England and India have competed at Test Match level since 1932, but it was only in 1951 that a physical prize was put up for the regular meetings between the English and the men from the sub-continent. And even then the Anthony de Mello Trophy was only contested when they played in India. It was named after one of the founders of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Pataudi Trophy was instituted in 2007 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the inaugural series, named after Pataudi family, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the first cricketer to represent both India and England in Test matches, and his son Mansur Ali Khan, who captained India and played schools cricket in England. The trophies ran side by side for 18 years until the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy replaced them both in 2025, lauding two of the greatest players in the history of the sport, England bowler James Anderson and India batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
