Golf - Charity Challenge

For most of its history this early season event was known as the Bob Hope Classic (1965-2011), named after the famous comedian and movie star. Held in California it is part of the PGA Tour's `West Coast Swing`, and is unique on the tour as being played over more than one course. Until 2012 it was a four-round, four course event but then was altered to three courses.
Founded as the Palm Springs Golf Classic, the first three events were held at the Thunderbird,Tamarisk, Bermuda Dunes and Indian Wells Country Club courses. Bermuda Dunes was used every year until 2010 and Indian Wells until 2006. In 1963 Eldorado replaced Thunderbird. From 1964 until 1968, La Quinta took over from Tamarisk, but in 1969
Tamarisk rejoined the event and alternated annually with Eldorado until 1986.
From 1987 until 1994, and again from 1998 to present, PGA West became a permanent member of the event; from 1995–97, Indian Ridge replaced PGA West. Eldorado was used in 1987 and 1989. From 1990–2003, Tamarisk and La Quinta alternated, with the former used the first year and the latter the next two. Tamarisk was used in 2004, with the 2005, 2006 and 2007 events were then played at La Quinta.
The Classic Club took the place of Indian Wells in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009 an extra course at PGA West and Silverrock Resort were added. In 2010, La Quinta replaced Bermuda Dunes. Silverrock was dropped for the 2012 event. In 2013 it was La Quinta and the Palmer and Nicklaus courses at PAG West whcih were used.
