The Lakers successfully defended the NBA crown after a thrilling decider against the Celtics in California. With 12 seconds left of a long season the score was 81-79 to LA and Sasha Vujacic sealed victory with two from the free throw line. Kobe Bryant was named the season's Most Valuable Player, although the great one `only` recorded 23 points in the final game of the season. Teh 16th title means the Lakers are just one behind the Celtics in the all-time list.
