Hunter finished two shots clear of compatriot Ryan Palmer, who had been co-leader going into the final round after birdies at three of his last five holes in round 3 for a seven-under par 63/ The final round began with 21 players separated by just five shots. A staggering 10 players shot 67 or better in round 3 and there were 35 rounds in the 60s. Seven-time champion Tiger Woods came in with a 75, finishing 78th out of 80. Retief Goosen had shot a four-under par 66 to lead by one going into the weekend with Phil Mickelson and Justin Leonard in second place. Tiger Woods continued his poor run with a 72 -- the first time he has ever had consecutive rounds over par at this tournament, which has won seven times. Bubba Watson set the early pace.

She just held her nerve in the dramatic closing holes to clinch her third major title. Oosthuizen carded a final round 71 to end the 150th anniversary tournament clear of Lee Westwood, who shot 70 to finish in the top three for the fourth time in the past five majors, dating back to his third at Turnberry last year. Rory McIlroy (68), Henrik Stenson (71) and Paul Casey (75) were tied third on eight under. Tiger Woods ended well adrift on three under after a level-par 72. Oosthuizen is the second South African to win the Open at St Andrews after Bobby Locke in 1957. He also joins Locke, Gary Player, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Trevor Immelman on the list of South African major winners. Tiger Woods posted a five-under-par 66 to go into the final round in California five shots off the lead but finished outside the top three. Johnson had hit 66 to secure a three-shot advantage over second tround leader McDowell. Phil Mickelson won his third green jacket after overhauling third round leader Lee Westwood with a final round 67 at Augusta National. Westwood must still wait for his major. Westwood shot a 68 to lead by one from the Californian after three rounds, having been one of only three players to shoot below 70 on a difficult day two of swirling winds. Tiger Woods, making hs first competitive appearance for five months, started well with a four-under-par 68, as Seniors tour veteran Fred Couples led the way after the first round.
